Laughter is extremely difficult to control consciously. Most people cannot laugh on command.

Laughter almost always occurs during pauses at the end of phrases. Laughter requires the coordination of many muscles throughout the body: a long bout of laughter is like a full body workout. It gives your diaphragm and abdominal, respiratory, facial, leg and back muscles a workout. If you need to break a quick sweat, maybe trim a few pounds, you should try watching Caddyshack.
